David James, the former goalie for Liverpool, showed off his merciless nature on Sunday at Anfield.
James, a seven-year Reds player, took part in the halftime show during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
James was joined by a few supporters on the Anfield field as they took penalties against the former England number one.
A little 11-year-old boy was among the supporters, and he undoubtedly dreamed about his big moment on Liverpool's home field numerous times.
Furthermore, it could have been assumed that James would have refrained from giving it his all to stop the bullets when the youngster came up for his spot-kick. But there was no hope of that.
James, who made 572 Premier League games, 214 of them at Liverpool, saved the boy's first penalty.
However, the young fan was granted a reprieve, but his second penalty was again saved.
Following his second save, James turned to face the Kop End audience, who were sarcastically jeering at the 54-year-old.
He seemed perplexed by their response as he raised his arms to his sides.
James' exploits brought to mind Michael Owen's 1999 goal-scoring rampage against a 13-year-old, which left Everton legend Neville Southall furious.
James' heroics at halftime caused social media to explode, with one X user joking, "Best save I've ever seen you make David."
A second reply said: "We booed you good! You shouldn’t have saved that poor kid’s PK."
A third added: "I can't breathe man, his dream was to probably save a pen in the Kop end. That kid just gotta hold it."
Then, this fan said: "Might have been David James dream to save a penalty at the Kop end got to look at it both ways."
Liverpool remained at the top of the Premier League on Sunday by being equally ruthless.
After Chelsea defender Levi Colwill booted Curtis Jones, Mohamed Salah scored a penalty kick to give the home team the lead.
The game was tied at the first minute of the second half thanks to a well-taken goal by Nicolas Jackson, but Arne Slot's team took the lead on minute 51 when Jones converted a pass into a goal.
Ten of Slot's first 11 games in charge of Liverpool have resulted in victories; Pep Guardiola is the only manager to accomplish the same number of victories across all competitions in a shorter space of time.
